In 2000, I returned from Switzerland to Pennsylvania, where in my parents' basement, I discovered a series of drawings made for my MArch degree at the University of Pennsylvania. This was a reminder of how the creative process and abstract thinking led to the completion of my thesis. A few years later, in my photography studio, I began exploring a series of work, which I would describe emerging from the subconscious.
When discussing the discovery of past work with a friend, who lent the idea of refondata, a Venetian and Esperanto term “being refounded” describing the re-establishment of a building or concept constructed upon earlier foundations.
